FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Maternity Sessions

When to book?

You can contact me as early as 12 weeks into your pregnancy to discuss having a maternity session with me and we can book you in as soon as you decide I’m the photographer for you!! Dates can fill up fast, especially if you are booking a newborn session at the same time, so it’s good to secure your booking a few months before your due date (at least) so that you don’t miss out.

When do we do the session (how pregnant should I be?)

I always like to do the maternity session when you are around 35 weeks along so keep that in mind when contacting me. From time to time I can fit in ladies who are 38 or 39 weeks, however this isn’t always possible due to my busy schedule.

Do I do them indoors or outdoors?

When you book, you have the choice between an indoor studio session in my custom built home studio located in Hilbert, or we can head outside and go to a beautiful location here in Perth. Indoor sessions are ideal for the winter months when it’s hard to lock in a date due to the weather, and is also ideal for the more intimate and artistic style photos.

I like to do the outdoor sessions around an hour or so before sunset, so the start time will vary depending on the season. Indoor sessions are more flexible with times so we can discuss this when you book in.

What location do we use the outdoor session?

For the outdoor option, I have lots of beautiful locations I can recommend for you to pick from if you’re unsure of where you would like to go. If there is a location you would like to use, please let me know and I can see if it will be suitable for my style of photography.

What do I wear?

What you wear to your session is totally up to you, however I’ve made it a lot easier for my clients to help make them feel extra beautiful at their session by putting together a maternity wardrobe that is available to my clients to use at their session. I have over 30 dresses to choose from, so there is no need to go out and get a special outfit, as you are more than welcome to use mine. Below is an example of the dresses I have available and most fit almost any body type. All my clients normally need to bring to their session is a proper strapless bra (not a bandeau) in white or nude, as well as nude underwear! For the indoor sessions we can do multiple dress changes but for an outdoor session I recommend choosing 2-3 for me to bring along with me on the day.

Can my partner and children be in the photos too?

I always encourage family members to take part in the whole process, so if your partner would like to be in the photos too that’s great. For ladies with other children, we turn the shoot into a family type session but also concentrating some shots of just you with your beautiful belly. That way we can get some great photos of you as a family, just as you are now….before baby arrives.

If you would like to chat further about your maternity session, please head over to my Contacts page and send me a message. I’d love to hear from you.
